• Wind turbine maker Siemens Gamesa is considering cutting around 2,500 jobs, about 9% of its workforce, to recover from losses which led the main shareholder Siemens Energy to launch a takeover. Siemens Gamesa has struggled amid fierce competition when many governments are turning towards decreasing the use of fossil fuels. Covid-19 disruptions and unstable metal prices due to the war in Ukraine added to the company’s crisis.

• Siemens Energy launched a €4.05 billion bid for minority holdings in struggling wind turbine unit Siemens Gamesa, hoping to remove a complex ownership structure that has weighed on its shares. Siemens Energy has faced mounting shareholder pressure to seek total control of Spanish-listed Siemens Gamesa, in which it owns a 67% stake inherited after a spin-off from former parent Siemens.
